Ian Russell

Non-Executive Board Chairman

Ian Russell became Non-Executive Chairman of the Advanced Power AG Advisory Board in May 2007. Mr. Russell is an adviser to 3i’s oil, gas and power group.

Until 2006, Mr. Russell was CEO of Scottish Power plc, a power and gas company serving customers throughout the UK and the US. Mr. Russell joined Scottish Power in 1994 as Finance Director, becoming CEO in 2001. In addition, Mr. Russell is non-executive Chairman of Johnston Press plc and non-executive director of the JPMorgan Fleming Mercantile Investment Trust plc. Mr. Russell previously held a number of financial positions, including with HSBC and Mars Ltd. He has served as a non-executive chairman of Thus, the quoted telecoms company, and a non-executive director of the Scottish Investment Trust. During 2004 and 2005, Mr. Russell chaired the Russell Commission review on youth volunteering for the Chancellor and Home Secretary.

Mr. Russell gained a Bachelor of Commerce degree from the University of Edinburgh before qualifying as a Chartered Accountant. In 2007, Mr. Russell received a CBE for services to young people.
