Carlos Riva

Non-Executive Board Member

Carlos Riva became a non-executive director of the Advisory Board of Advanced Power in July 2007. Previously Mr Riva was an advisor to the company.

Mr Riva is the former President and Chief Executive Officer of Verenium Corporation, a technology company dedicated to commercialising next-generation biofuels and specialty enzymes. Previously, he was an executive director of Amec plc with responsibility for the company’s activities in the United Kingdom and the Americas. Mr Riva has extensive experience in the electric power industry, having served as the founding Chief Executive of InterGen, a global power company, and as President of J Makowski Company, developer of the first independent power project in the United States. He is also a former non-executive director of Airtricity. Mr Riva is a past president of the Electric Generation Association and former member of the Coal Industry Advisory Board of the IEA.

Mr. Riva holds degrees in Civil Engineering from MIT and Stanford University and an MBA from Harvard Business School.
